Being a young carer
If you look after one of your parents, a relative or friend, you could be a young carer.
You are a young carer if you:
- help to care for someone in your family with a disability, illness, mental health condition, or drug or alcohol problem.
- are under 18 years old.
Being a young carer can involve helping someone to do their daily routine, helping with housework and being there to support your family.
You can find out more about your rights as a young carer here.
You can also find a list of helpful support for young carers here.
