One of our four objectives to become ‘Outstanding AWP’ is to deliver high quality care in partnership. To achieve this, we are committed to delivering care as a joint endeavour with patients, their family, friends and carers, including the voluntary sector. We work hard to add value to all our partnerships, and we continually explore opportunities to develop more partnerships to strengthen the care we provide.
Our partnerships are essential to providing timely care and treatment to people with mental health needs. We work closely with professionals across health and social care, including:
- GPs
- practice nurses
- social prescribers
- local authorities
- other secondary care providers
- community and voluntary third sector organisations
Our own staff are based in GP surgeries across Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW), and Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG). This ensures immediate access for people who require more specialist input and support.
As part of the NHS Long Term Plan, we expect the number of mental health staff working in primary care to increase. We are working with our GP colleagues to understand where these staff may be best located so that they can respond to local health needs.
