The Acute Hospital Liaison Teams provide a service for adults from the age of 18 years and above who are experiencing a mental health crisis in Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire. In North Somerset, this service is provided by the Psychiatric Liaison Team. All our local teams support people who have been admitted to either the Emergency Department (ED) or a hospital ward.
If you, or a person you care for, are referred to an Acute Hospital Liaison Team or the North Somerset Psychiatric Liaison Team, we will carry out a rapid assessment, helping to identify the best treatment you need to reduce distress and associated risks.
Referrals are received from practitioners within the Emergency Department or hospital staff. To make a referral, contact information for each local Acute Hospital Liaison Team is detailed below.

Swindon Substance Misuse Liaison at the Great Western Hospital offers assessment and signposting, screening and brief intervention to anyone who has concerns about their drug or alcohol use.
If you, or someone you care for, are referred to our service, we will visit you at your ward and carry out an assessment. We understand how difficult and stressful it can feel to talk about drug and alcohol issues, so we always keep our assessments as relaxed and informal as possible.
Our aim is to ensure that you are signposted or referred to the best service for you once you are discharged from hospital.
We take referrals from all inpatient wards at the Great Western Hospital and the Emergency Department.
If you have any concerns about your own or someone else’s drug and alcohol use, please speak to a member of the ward staff who will contact us.
