Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICU) provide patients and service users with high levels of support for short periods of time as part of their recovery.
We have three PICUs:
-
Ashdown Unit in Salisbury has 6 beds and is available for male adults.
-
Elizabeth Casson House Unit in Bristol has 8 beds and is available for female adults.
-
Hazel Unit in Bristol has 12 beds and is available for male adults.
PICU works alongside other inpatient ward settings, including adult acute wards and rehabilitation wards. Our PICUs offer rapid intervention to help you, or someone you care for, move forward with your recovery.
We work closely with family members and carers, collaborating as a team to meet the needs of everyone we care for.
Referrals are received from AWP's intensive teams, adult acute inpatient units and prison in-reach teams.
Hazel Unit has 12 beds for male adults.
