What we do
The Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) model is delivered in educational settings for children aged 5 to 18 years old. We work with mild to moderate mental health difficulties. The teams deliver evidence-based individual interventions, group interventions and have a strong focus on whole school approaches to improve mental health outcomes for children and young people. Each team is expected to reach 8,000 children and their families, and will reach out to children who are not in school for whatever reason.
In Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG), the MHSTs programme is delivered in partnership with Off the Record (OTR) and Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP).
Our one-to-one interventions are called low intensity cognitive behavioural therapy (LI-CBT) and can include supporting children and young people with the following:
- anxiety
- low mood
- exam stress
We work to deliver a "whole-school approach", which means we support the entire school with their wellbeing by delivering group workshops, assemblies, training and creating resources.
