The annual AWP Nurse Conference took place last week to celebrate the profession and thank staff for their dedication to patients.
It took place in Chippenham and was attended by more than 100 nurses who work for AWP across the south west providing a range of specialist mental health, learning disability and autism care.
A number of people with lived experience of mental health illness also spoke about how AWP’s nurses have helped them. They praised the nurses for their compassionate care and professionalism and shared stories of how this had impacted their lives.
One of them said: “Without the nurses I would not be standing here today and both my husband and I are extremely grateful for all their care and their commitment to deliver an outstanding service.” Another added: “Your impact is priceless, and I hope that these words help show you the value that you bring.”
Sarah Jones, Director of Nursing at AWP also introduced the upcoming 5 Year (2024- 2029) Nurse Strategy. It sets out the four priorities for AWP nurses. These are: Professional Practice, Continuous Improvement, Developing the Nursing Workforce, and Recognition and Reward.
