Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP) is proud to be supporting national Mental Health Awareness Week which starts on Monday (May 13th) with the theme Moments for Movement.

To celebrate the week, AWP is going behind the scenes of some of its services to highlight the importance and impact that physical activity can have on mental health.

We shine a light on our physiotherapy team in Bristol and how they incorporate movement and physical activity in the newly refurbished gym and activity room at Callington Road Hospital for patients receiving inpatients mental health care; and find out how our Forget Me Not service in Wiltshire provides regular walks with their dementia patients and carers.

We will also discover how access to outdoor space and spending time in nature can improve mental and physical wellbeing. Bringing green social prescribing in to our everyday practice, AWP and BNSSG ICB are part of Healthier with Nature programme which is the Green Social Prescribing Programme for Bristol, North Somerset & South Gloucestershire and was one of seven national ‘test and learn’ sites for green social prescribing across England.

We would be delighted if you could support AWP throughout the week, follow us on our social media channels or join in by liking/sharing our posts. You can also get involved and share your own photos of #MomentsForMovement
