The latest NHS Staff Survey results have seen continued improvements across key workforce areas for Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP).
The survey was completed by over 2,600 staff working in a range of community and inpatient mental health, learning disabilities and autism services across the southwest.
It asks nearly 100 questions about their views of working for AWP against seven key statements which are part of the NHS People Promise. The statements are, we are compassionate and inclusive; we are recognised and rewarded; we have a voice that counts; we are safe and healthy; we are always learning; we work flexibly; and we are a team.
The results show improvements in all these areas, while staff engagement and morale have also increased.
Results for team working, morale, flexible working, learning, and recognition & rewards are also now above the national average for trusts of a similar type and size to AWP.
And the number of staff who would recommend AWP as a place to work is now at a 10 year high, up 20% since 2014.
Dominic Hardisty, Chief Executive at AWP, said: “We are really heartened by these latest set of staff survey results which build on our 10-year trajectory of continual improvement in all aspects of our Staff Survey. We recognise we have much more work to do, but these results are further evidence of the improvements we are making.
“We want to provide the best care we can to all our patients and that starts with having valued and motivated staff, working in supportive teams, within a kind and compassionate environment. Being a great place to work is one of our key priorities and it’s good to see the progress is being felt. We will remain steadfast in our commitment to further improving the experience for all our staff, across all our teams and services.”
The NHS Staff Survey is one of the largest workforce surveys in the world and has been conducted every year since 2003.
