Bringing festive cheer to local mental health wards

Patients being cared for in a local mental health ward this Christmas will be given a festive gift thanks to mental health charity Headlight.

Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health NHS Partnership Trust (AWP) which runs mental health services across the south west, will be handing out vouchers to all those who are in one of its wards and units in the run up to Christmas. The initiative is funded by the Trust’s in-house charity, Headlight.

The vouchers will enable patients to choose gifts, treats, or experiences during their hospital stay. Each voucher is designed to provide a personal touch, allowing patients to select items that resonate with their individual tastes and preferences.

Sarah Jones, Director of Nursing said: “We understand that being in hospital during the festive period can be challenging for patients and their families, and our aim is to bring a little bit of joy to their experience. We hope that these vouchers will remind patients that they are cared for and valued.”

The initiative is made possible through the Trust’s registered charity Headlight, which has been used to support a number of projects including enhancements to ward or hospital environments, staff wellbeing initiatives and purchasing of specific equipment.
