Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health NHS Partnership Trust (AWP) are celebrating National Learning Disability (LD) Nurses Day today.
Sarah Jones, Director of Nursing and Quality at AWP, said: "An absolutely massive thank you to all of our Learning Disability Nurses. They are a small part of our nursing population in numbers, around 75, but my goodness are you big on what you do and deliver.
They are absolutely amazing and essential to the work we do at AWP. They challenge misconceptions about people with learning disabilities and autism. They are advocates and constantly challenge the rest of the health service and wider to make sure people with learning disabilities and autism get the right care that they need."
